Join the Atlantic Tuna Project team as they descend one again to Panama Sportfishing Lodge in Chiriqui Panama this May.   Our goal is simple, to tag 100 yellowfin tuna in five days.  This will be our fourth trip and every one has been an absolute adventure.  See links below for posts on our past adventures.  We are in for a special treat this year, as lodge owner, John DeLaCruz has added a 78' Mother Ship Yacht to his fleet, which means we will spend a couple of nights on the yacht instead of motoring back into port.  The anticipation of staying on the tuna grounds for a true afternoon bite is impossible to wait for.  In years past, we often left the tuna biting ferociously in the early afternoon because we had to run in.

Catching large yellowfin tuna on poppers is one of the true pinnacles of offshore sportfishing > read these posts:

Learn To Tag:

Learn how to catch, tag and release yellowfin tuna caught on poppers and jigs.  In years past, tuna we have tagged in Panama have been re-captured as far away as Equador.   Don't worry we always keep one or two for the table.

Sponsors & Gear:

The trip is sponsored by AFTCO, Guy Harvey Sportswear and others.  Every angler receives a welcome bag with an Atlantic Tuna Project performance shirt, tshirt, hats and others useful items for the week.

Amazing Food:

The food is nothing short of spectacular.  Fresh sushi and fish every night as well as steaks, boxed lunches and breakfast every day.  All drinks, beers are also included.

Panama City - See the Canal >

We will fly to Panama City May 14th.  Spend the night in Panama City and fly out to the lodge Saturday May 15th.  Fish five full days, Monday thru Friday.  Friday night we will fly from David to Panama City. Spend the night in Panama City May 20th, then fly home on the Saturday 21st.  If you come from different airports than Newark you might be able to skip the overnight layovers in Panama City.   If you want to see the Panama Canal which is highly recommended, it's an easy excursion from the city.

Rates:

All inclusive rates 5 full days of fishing, 3 guys per boat, room, all meals, drinks/liquor/beer, airport transfer, $3500 per person.
